Prepared

The base numbers given assume you need to jump immediately without any preparation like being in combat and you just want to jump right away. If you have a little time though, you can spend 2 seconds concentrating to mentally prepare yourself, crouch just right, breathing just right, and get yourself set up to manage a better jump. If you can make a prepared jump, you get double the normal distance.

Short Run

This is a few running steps like you might see a basketball player do before jumping for a dunk. As long as you move at least your own height (or length if you're longer than you are tall) directly before jumping, you get a 50% increase in jump distance. In most cases this means having to run at least 2 hexes on the combat map since most characters are close to 6 feet tall.

Long Run

This is when you run at least twice your base height (or length) before jumping, and it only applies to broad jumps. The numbers are listed in the table above for high jumps too, but you'll see the high jump numbers for long runs are the same as for the short run. This is because you have to change the direction of your momentum. The benefit to the broad jump though is a doubling of distance. Preparing before a long running broad jump is the biggest distance you can get (x4).

Other modifiers

Droids can have the Super Jump advantage which gives a multiplier. Force users can have an ability that improves jump distance. This page gives you the base numbers for jumping, and the trait or ability is applied to those. For example if your standing broad jump is 4 ft, and you have the ability to increase the distance by 100%, your standing broad jump is 8 ft.
